International Students

The Master’s program in Operations Management is one that is normally pursued by students who are employed full-time in the U.S.  Some classes are offered in weekday evening hours, while most are offered online.  International applicants should also carefully consider how they will complete the prerequisite courses, which are only offered as online courses.

This is an applied management program and does not have the same structure or financial arrangements as traditional, research-oriented graduate programs (fellowships, assistantships, etc.). We can accommodate citizens of other countries only if (1) they are in the U.S. on work or dependent visas, (2) if they can make separate arrangements with the University’s International Admissions Office to qualify for an F-1 student visa and relocate to Fayetteville, or (3) if they remain abroad and take the program entirely online.  For more information on international graduate student admissions, please visit the International Admissions page.

To be admitted into the program, students who plan to live in the Northwest Arkansas area and attend live classes at the Fayetteville campus, must submit English Proficiency test scores that meet the minimum requirements for both ADMISSION and ENROLLMENT.  Minimum acceptable scores are listed below and on the Graduate School website.  There are no exceptions or conditional admissions with regards to these requirements.

1)      One of the following scores must be submitted for ADMISSION:

  • TOEFL Internet Based Test (IBT) 79
  • TOEFT paper based 550
  • IELTS 6.5
  • PTE-A Pearson Test of English-Academic 58
  • iTEP Academic 3.9
  • C1 Advanced CAE 176

2)      One of the following English Writing Proficiency scores for ENROLLMENT:

  • TOEFL iBT Writing 26
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE-A) 71
  • IELTS Writing 6.0
  • iTEP 4.0
  • C1 Advanced 169
  • GRE Analytical Writing 4.0
  • GMAT Analytical Writing 4.5
  • ELPT Writing 75

International students who are not native speakers of English and who are completing the program online in their home countries must have a conferred degree from an English speaking university/college or must earn a written English test score that is high enough to waive any University of Arkansas English proficiency courses. To waive English proficiency courses, the international applicant must earn a satisfactory score on at least one of the following tests.

  • TOEFL iBT Writing 29
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE-A) 80
  • IELTS Writing 7.0
  • iTEP 4.5
  • C1 Advanced 185
  • GRE Analytical Writing 4.5
  • GMAT Analytical Writing 5.0
  • ELPT Writing 81

The Operations Management program does not provide financial assistance for funding of tuition and fees. This includes scholarships, graduate assistantships, or financial aid. However, these financial resources are accepted for funding of tuition and fees. If you wish to seek employment, please visit the University’s Human Resource Department link, Home | Human Resources | University of Arkansas.

Due to visa requirements regarding the minimum number of face-to-face classroom hours within each semester, F-1 Visa students will be accepted to begin coursework in January or August.  They are unable to begin the program in the Summer or 8-week-2 sessions that begin in March or October.
